A Few Questions! Please Help!

i’m kinda new to all these basic stamp, basic atom and other microcontrollers so these questions might sound kinda dumb.

In order to build lets say a rover robot, what kind of electronics do i need just for it to be remotely controlled. i think it would be just basic stamp or basic atom but im not sure. would i need anything else electronic? i dont mean like motors or servos but like a reciever/transmitter or something.

ok now lets say i want to build a BRAT-type robot or something with a lot of servos. would i be able to use the same electronics from the rover even if i want the new robot to be remote controlled or not. do i need the SSC-32 servo controller for it? can the SSC servo controller be used by itself without basic stamp or basic atom?

What do you think is better. the basic atom or basic stamp?

Ive read a lot from the forums and lynxmotion’s website but im still confused. Any help is appreciated.

 Thanks

The microcontroller is the brains of the robot. It can be used for both a rover or brat. I use the Basic Atom 28 most kits came with those when I started here and have stuck with them. A microcontroller has to be programmed.
The rover will need a Motor Controllers
The brat will need a SSC-32 Servo controller
As for remote control you can go cheap with the PS2 Robot controller and Controller Cable it is wireless with about 30 to 40 feet range. This is great for when you first get started I know it adds up fast when you first start out.

I can only recommend the Atom Pro. The new Bot Board II was designed to play nice with this processor.
