I have a time sensitive project requiring a quatity of 5 “6V 100:1 155RPM Micro Metal Gearmotor w/ Encoder” (catalog # RB-Dfr-685) at this time only 1 is available and the other 4 are on back order. Is there a comparable item currently in stock that I could use for the other 4? I warn you that I work in purchasing and am not the end user so I do not have technical knowledge on this subject.

The product RB-Dfr-685 is indeed currently out of stock. That being said, we have more coming in soon (expected to be in stock in two weeks).
If this delay is too long for your project, you may be able to find an alternative from our other small/micro gear-motor selection here.
Since you indicated to not be the designed of the project using these motors, it is somewhat difficult to recommend an alternative, since this would certainly change some parameters. Without knowledge of which parameters of that gear motor are critical to the project, it is not likely that we can properly recommend a different product. Characteristics such as weight, size, voltage, torque, RPM, encoder style/resolution all impact the choice of a potential replacement.
We recommend that inform the designer of this delay and have them look at the potential alternatives.
