6-star servo horns

I’m looking to mount some wheels to the output shafts of some servos, and the wheel design is such that placing three screws at 120-degree increments is really the best way to mount them. The 6-pointed-star-shaped servo horn that used to be standard fare on most brands of servo would really be the ideal way to achieve this, but the last time I ordered Hitec servos, they weren’t included in the assortment of shapes and sizes that I got. Looking at the servo horns that come with various brands of servos at the hobby shop, I was surprised to see that none of the units there came with 6-star output horns. Has this shape been abandoned, or did I just get (un)lucky in my search?

On a related note: I was able to find an expensive pack of servo accessories that included a 6-star horn, but it was for Futaba servos, rather than Hitec. Am I correct in recalling that the two are not the same size, and won’t mesh with each other?

I suppose that I could use the standard round output horn, and carefully drill holes at the proper placement, but I’d feel a lot more confident if I could just get something pre-molded with holes in the right spots, and not have to rely on my “livingroom fabrication” techniques.

hmmmm. Im not sure they abandoned the idea of the six star servo horn as I have seen them around in rc cars and rc plane mechanisms. Hmm, perhaps servo city will have them in stock? If not, they are out there somewhere. Check google or ebay, perhaps someone is selling them as accessories…

These are the best guesses I can come up with at 10:15, sorry.

I have been a Hitec retailer for 12 years. They have never used the 6 point servo horn for standard size servos. Hitec uses a 24 tooth spline, and Futaba uses a 25 tooth spline. They are not interchangable. Sorry…
