Hi there,

I have that same Bluetooth module. It’s pretty slick.

It should work fine in terms of getting your PC connected to the ABB. On powering it however, I wouldn’t run the SD202 straight off the battery. While it says it can handle a 5-12V power rail, it also cautions that it should be regulated. The SD202 draws a maximum of 106ma so you should be able to run it off the ABB’s 5V 250ma regulator. You can power it through either the plug that attaches to the side, or if you’re not connecting it directly to the ABB, then you can connect up a 5V source to pin 9 of the SD202’s DB9.

Also, make sure that the other side of your bluetooth network is Class 1 as well if you want the 100m ranges. If you have a class 2 dongle in a PC, you’ll be unhappy with the range.

In terms of how to hook them together…

You simply take pin 1 on the BT (BlueTooth) and wire it to pin 1 on the BB (BotBoard), pin 2 on BT to pin 2 on BB, etc…
Until you get to pin 9.
It’s best to do as Andy said and hook pin 9 to a +5V pin on the BB (you’ll need to use a jumper to enable 5V on that bank, of course).

For a more in-depth look at serial communication (or just about any information on just about anything), wikipedia.org/ knows all.

thanx so much for the help
