I have sample code (with all required files) for the 4WD robot kit, to test its 4 wheel drive.
Disconnect expansion board before dowloading
Compile and download - without error
Robot does not move.
Have any ideas why?
Perhaps battery are discharged? - charge it with the supplemented charge - how do I know when it’s done - I didn’t see and led indicator for that one.
Do I need to press the red button (I did - it does nothing) ?
Do I need to switch any jumpers?
I try connecting it with APC220 to have RF serial communication.
I followed the instructions - downloaded the APC driver, and set the correct port.
I download a simple program - can be found here - arduino.cc/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1278120259
and nothing happens.
My USB cable is disconnected after downloading the program, and I activate the robot using its own power source (the red button) not to interfere with the APC.
I choose than the matching serial port (which is now different for the APC than to the USB cabe), open the serial monitor, make sure the baud is 9,600, and nothing happens when I enter “a” or “b” or “A” in accordance to the simple program in the link above.
I then disconnected the expansion board, and tried again - nothing.
I then connected the APC jumper which is on the main board as explained in the data sheet - still nothin.
Also I dont understand how I can use the serial monitor if the expansion board is connected and the RX/TX pins are then connected to the expansion board? - it suppose to work beacuse the serial now work with the APC and not connected with the USB to the Rx/Tx?
In order to operate the robot you need for first charge the batteries. We recommend charging them initially for 24h. There is no fully charged indicator but you could measure the battery output voltage and current in order to check their status.
Once the robot is charged, you can turn it on using the big red button.
Of course you might want to program it first using the included USB cable. The jumpers should be in their correct position.
