I am looking for something to replace the GPRS GSM V.2 shield made by Seeed Studio that no longer works with the AT&T network.
Is there a replacement that you or someone can suggest that has been tested with the AT&T network and is known to work since the 2g network has been turned off?
I am looking to buy at least 20 of the correct modules if someone can guarantee they can help me get these to work with the AT&T network. I have devices I need to change to 3g modules before I can use them and time is of essence at this point.
I would also be willing to pay someone through PayPal to help me re-write the code to work with a new device. Code is already written to use with a Seeed Studio V.2 shield.
Unfortunately, we do not have any way of testing those specifically with your AT&T network at this time. The easiest solution would be to purchase one that seems compatible (technology, frequencies used, etc.) and try it out and see if it works for your needs.
According to this reference, the AT&T 3G network uses GSM 850/1900 MHz bands. Therefore, in theory, any transceivers that support these communication bands for GSM/3G should have no issues working. Of course, we have no way to confirm this without a direct test, which we cannot perform ourselves.
Following a quick online search concerning the SIM900 and the Quectel UG95 modules, we’ve found information confirming the Quectel UG95 for 3G compatibility using HSDPA/850/1900. You can find the link to the approved list directly from the AT&T website here (you can also find it here quickly by doing a manufacturer-based filter. See image below for example). Many online sources provided confirmation of the SIM900 module for AT&T networks, but it is not present in the list mentioned. Therefore, we would recommend a module based on the UG95, such as the RB-Itb-05 mentioned above.
