360 degree LIDAR scanner to map topography

I have purchased a number of heavily wooded, hilly lots that i need to determine the ground contours/topography.

There are a number of quite expensive UAV and ground (terrestrial), Lidar survey tools on the market.

I am wondering if an inexpensive 360 degree laser/lidar component could be used to map the topography - either my mounting on a tripod that is moved around, or either hand held?

Welcome to RobotShop community.

The ground lidar option that you have suggested is usually used for vertical features so we wouldn’t recommend it for such a task.

We recommend a UAV option to have a clear result.
