3 stage actuator, how.?

I’m a little lost and hope that I can get some help here.
Searching the web how to make a normal motor actuator (2 stage) is not hard to find.
But I would like to try to make a 3 stage motor actuator and just don’t know how the mechanic works and can’t really find anything about it.

I hope that someone can help me out and explain it, maybe with a picture or a vid.

Unfortunately this is something we have no real background designing.
You might want to look online to find cut-view of an actuator ?
