Very nice, I haven’t seen this one yet. The fact that it can be “programmed” is amazing. Here is another example of a very impressive automaton, though it “only” has a number of “hardcoded” motions it can do. It’s mind boggling how these were created so long ago.

That is amazing, thank you for posting the link. I looked this up on Wikipedia and learned it is one of three dolls he made, another plays music on an organ and the second, draws pictures. The precision and beauty of these automated dolls makes them works of art. Its humbling to think he was able to do this 240 years ago with springs, cams and gears and that I would struggle greatly with the advantages of motors, servos and microcontrollers. Thanks again, impressive beyond words.
