Hello everybody.
I have the will to create a robotic arm constituted by 3 lengths and 3 articulations.
I just want to experiment , I don’t want the robot to grab anything at the moment, only try moving it fluently according to a proximity sensor.
So it will be a really primitive shape.
The point is that I wanted the lengths to be 20 cm long. which would represent a whole length of 60 cm when extended.
So I wanted you to advice me about the servo or stepper to use
If I use 20 cm lengths that weights 200gr each with joints that would have the same weight, I need a 42 kg.cm stall torque servo at the base.
Did someone realize such a thing. If it’s the case, did you use steppers? or servo?
thanks for pointing me any links where I could keep on learning…
(forgive my english by the way)
The segment length of 20cm is a little long. If you could get away with 15cm then it would be easy. The AL5D arm has segments in a similar range.
Hello.
Thanks for this example
20 cm is even a bit short for me…
What could you advice me beyond 20cm segments?
Have you ever heard of such projects?
If the arm only has to support its own weight, you might be able to move the servos back off of the arm and use push/pull cables or rods to keep the suspended weight of the arm low. Linear actuators might be used like below to make a larger arm.
