12vdc pm closed loop

I have a 12vdc pm motor, It drives a reversible hydraulic pump which powers a rotary actuator. It operates intermittently, 3amps at low pressure -20amp max. The actuator has a potentiometer installed for positioning. My positioning input is potentiometer based as well. What would you recommend as a closed loop controller? I have two sets of two motors that need controlling(4).

they will be powered by pb12vdv with alternator replenishment.

I have done this in the past with custom boards as well as stock pol smc04 boards. The motor being controlled is similar to a car starter motor parker. The pot on the rotary actuator Helac L10 is what provides positioning feedback. It is a Higher amperage than the previous boards could handle in this system. I thought the roboclaw may do the job, but unsure of its feedback abilities.

Very few DC motor controller can act as a servo controller. We know that some RoboteQ controllers have this feature. The other closed loop controllers need an encoder and the “closed loop” feature is for speed control - not for position control. It sounds like what you need is a servo motor.
