Robots Have Tact? Robot Fingers That Can Feel

Robots just gained a new sense: touch! Researchers from the University of Southern California, developed a sensitive robot finger that is filled with fluid and features a fingerprint just as human fingers do, they call it Biotac. As shown in the video below, they are using the this technology to develop texture sensing and other interesting applications that could be used in prosthetic in the future. http://vimeo.com/43688296 This is an important technological advance, because the sensor feedback will enable robots to better understand and control their grasp.
