PC Magazine
has published a review of WowWee toy's latest robotic amusement item
- the Robopet. Retailing for $99, the Robotpet is next in the line of
robot toys created by Mark Tilden and marketed by Wowwee. First came
Robospaien, then
Roboraptor, now
Robopet, and hopefully before this
x-mas, Robosapien V2.
PC Mag says, "Robopet can sit, rear back, and even jump like a real
dog. The last
trick is especially impressive, as the robot does manage to leave the
ground." Using his sensors he can respond to loud sounds, avoid falling
off the edge of tables or stairs, and navigate around obstacles. He
also comes with a variety of tricks, like "sit, play dead, jump, and
roll over. He can also pass gas and "pee" on the rug." Using the remote
you can put these commands into a series up to 20 commands long.
Another cool feature is that Robopet can roll over if it's knocked
down! That's something you see on the $1,500 Aibo, but not usually
something this cheap.
But, before you rush out and buy one, PC Mag's final word was, "We
think this is a rare case where WowWee has overpriced its robot and
missed the mark on consumer-friendly design."
What do you think?

has several pictures of the toy.
