
10.1 Caster Wheel Drop Switch Replacement
Roomba replacement caster wheel drop switch can be found at RobotShop.
Removal Phase
1 - Unscrew screws (A).
2 - Remove any glue holding the wires for the caster wheel switch.
3 - Remove the front support.
4 - Remove the springs for the bumper (if needed).
5 - With a pair of pliers, remove the caster wheel drop switch off its socket.
6 - Cut the defective switch off.
7 - Strip the end of the wires for the caster wheel drop switch coming from the robot.
8 - Cut the wires of the replacement switch.
9 - Strip the wires of the replacement switch.
Assembly Phase
1 - Twist the sripped wires of the replacement switch together with the stripped wires coming from the robot.
2 - Solder the wires together.
3 - Place electrical tape around the soldered part of the wires.
4 - With a pair of pliers place the wheel drop switch correctly in its place.
5 - Wheel drop switch should look like this when installed in its socket:
6 - Reinsert the springs if you had removed them.
7 - Place the front support correctly and put back in screws (A).
8 - Place the purple wire for the caster wheel correctly on the front support.
9 - Place glue to hold the purple wire in place, and you’re done.
