No, no, don’t use “Kankerlijer” that’s really bad. It means someone is suffering from cancer. Don’t know a good translation in english tough. “Teringhufter” is fine

I think kankerlijer translates as “cancersufferer”. Doesn’t sound good, but you get the point.
Why is that offensive?
I realise cancer is baaaaad and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, but why is is bad to call someone this?
Is there a “polite” phrase for someone who actually has cancer?
I’m not being funny here, just looking for clarity.
