Wall-E (Oh YEA!)

This is my son and I project. I watched Wall-E a few years ago and thought to myself, (I could make that!) So I used my son as an excuse to start building Wall-E. The wife probably would not have let me if I didn’t convince her it would help our son educationally. So here are a few pictures and I am about 30% of the way done. I just need ($400.00) for a dual motor control board. Stupid money!

I will keep you posted on out progress.

Yea, that was one of the interesting parts to try and figure out. What I am using (I have them right now there just not pictured) is #80 chain (BIG) with K-1 attachment links every other link. Kind of expensive, I think it was $50 or $60 for the #80 chain and $175 for all the K-1 attachment master links I needed. I will put a picture up a little later today.

Here is the idea for the tracks.

Custom made, I bought about 20 feet of #80 chain off e-bay for about $40.00 and I bought the K-1 Attachment links from some chain company I found in Google. They where about $4.00 a piece, so that was a little pricey. I think it was almost $200.00 for the attachments.

It should work very well. Wall-E should weigh a little over 400 pounds, so i need something strong that can take a 180 degree turn and not tear the chain apart. I can’t wait to see what it can do to a tile, carpeted, wooden, or any other kind of floor. It will rip some stuff up that is for sure.

Here are some pics from yesterday. We are getting closer to Wall-E being complete.

Very curious as to what you will use for tracks? Very nice CAD.

Sincerely,

Are they custom made? Used from another device? Those can make for some very rugged tracks - excellent find!
