SSC-32 not responding

where are you located?

Brooklyn New York

Man, this is one tough issue. There is nothing else I can think of at this point. I think Jim went home for the day.

There is only one more thing to try, and it probably wont help and it’s a long shot, but have you tried rebooting your PC?

This is goofy… Let me send you a new chip.

Please email or PM me your complete address.

Problem solved… Next! lol

yes i agree,

you should try to reboot the PC, one day it was just the COM port which was crashed…rebooting have solved the problem.

i mean stop the PC and start, not a warm start reboot, in order to cut completely the power to the COM port.

then, what about the Timeouts values you are using (the 3 read values) ?

LOL Jim i really commend you personally and really thank the rest of the people for all the help and suggestions! This is truly what i call Customer Service at its Highest point, and this community makes it even better.

As per the rebooting yup iv done that, i even went into the hardware manager uninstalled the com port and had windows reinstall it and still no go, I’m pretty lost on this one lol.

WOW! looks like it’s the chip after all. Sorry it could not be resolved; it’s always a bummer having to wait for replacement parts.

Just thinking…

Lynxterm can connect no matter what, even on another COM port # than the one used by the SSC-32 card.

could you check if you are connected to the right COM port # with Lynxterm ?
in doubt you could try connecting on each COM port # listed in Lynxterm and try to update the firmware.

Hello Rift,

The chip will not leave here till Monday, so let me know if changing the com port get’s the job done. If not I can send you the mega8 or mega168 chip. Let me know…

Umm i don’t get an option to choose any other com port other then 1 this is within lynxterm or are you having me look somewhere else?

Monday is fine Jim and if you can really send the mega168 that would rock!

Within Lynxterm only,

if you click on the disclosure triangle on the the port # right, is there only one COM port listed ?
if so, it must be the right one

i’m thinking of another test :
1 : run lynxterm
2 : switch on the SSC-32 card
3 : ensure Lynxterm is connected to the right COM port

=> is there strange characters showing in the terminal window when the SSC-32 is power on ?

try to type “ver” then press
=> does it type “vveerr” ?
=> 5 second after you have pressed , is there a big block of stange characters showing in the terminal window ?, scrolling up ?

Only one com port yes

When i power it on no strange characters come up

When i type ver it dose type vveerr then i hit enter and nothing
it scrolls down some but no text or strange symbols.

Sounds like you need to turn echo off…

I’m sending you a new chip. Let me know if you still have trouble.

(Mad Scientist Voice) ITS ALIVE!!! MUAHAHAHA

Jim everything works again!! the new chip did the trick, but I’m still puzzled as to what happened to the old one.

I wanted to thank you for the help and the upgrade chip i know you didn’t have to send a 168 but you did and thats really awesome! Also thank you for replacing the gear for the HS-81 from my other arm. Despite the problems everything was corrected by Lynxmotion and i couldn’t be happier. Seriously top notch customer service!

Also a big thanks to everyone else that gave me advice on what to do.
