lol Im trying to find more pictures of the setup.
This is what I found. It shows that the end tip is a steerable nozel, but what steers it?
this shows somewhat of a turning mechanism but its too small.

yup, exactly as i knew it would look and act like (im around motorized toys a lot) well, u look really close and there are these 2 servos with long cables going to the back of the boat, thats wat turns the tube turny thing
are those the same motors as the mini jet motors? cause if they are thatd be sick, the look real cool, ill take a look a them now to see if they would be able to be hooked up and turn and such, i have had a TON of homework to do
EDIT: well, that was incredibly easy to figure out, it does have a turny tube thing, and i think its just bolt on and go basically, the reverse mechanism is covering the thing, it all makes sense now and im sure can get a linkage arm in there for steering
I hope.
???
???
Its not going to dive at all. The PVC pipe will be over the bot making it float while the robot itself will be entirely underwater allowing it to see whats down there as well as stay hidden. Its like an ROV thats remote control and dosnet rise or sink.
There is actually a suprisingly large community of RC Submariners out there. Most that I know of are into creating running scale models of military submersibles, but they could be converted to suit your original design. Check out these websites for additional info:

That last link is a long one, but it is also one of the coolest in my opinion. I have two of the Walmart subs mentioned, a Seawolf and a Dallas, and they have provided me with many hours of experimentation at the pool. I have also used a few of the minisubs like the one shown earlier in the post. Send me a PM if you need any more info, there is no sense in reinventing the wheel.
LOL! Thanks. Well Im not going to go into anything more for this project as it is for next year (if I decide to enter BASEF again)… Grade 11 and 12 will be tough. Thanks for the advice and like I said, if I get into this project as planned ill give you a PM for sure!
No Problem. I had been away from the forums for a while, and when I saw this thread I got mad because I wished I’d seen it sooner! I’m planning on getting one of the newer walmart subs, a USS Gator, to experiment with. The new subs look bigger and they steer with a real rudder, as opposed to the little thruster propellors that the older subs had. I’ll put up some pictures when I get one.
THX!!!
