Hey guys,
Why does it take a year and a day to download programs to the BAP using the latest development studio? I’m using a USB to Serial adaptor from Parallax. When I download programs to my BS2px is zips right along.
Any ideas?

mine takes long to ,always has dont know why , i though it was just the write speed of the chip
mybe i was wrong
Not sure. We’ll contact Basic Micro to see if they can offer some insight.
It gets the job done but for someone making rapid changes it can be a bit frustrating. An example is experimenting with the Freqout command using the speaker, I would try one combination and then try another seconds later. If it takes 40 seconds each time it can get rather old.
I don’t remember it being this way with the older IDE.
I will assume this is an FTDI based adapter. If so, go to the comm settings, go to the advanced settings and then make sure Latency is set to 1, I think most of the time it defaults to something like 16.
Kurt
you have bluetooth ?
if yes than disable it to test
I appreciate the pointer. Unfortunetly I was not able to locate the latency option. The Basic Micro Studio IDE did not have this option and Windows 7 did not have any settings that I could modify for the FTDI serial adaptor. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong locations? The BS2px MCU downloads super fast with the current configuration.
My Arduino IDE was taking forever to open. It was a blue tooth port problem.
The Basic micro forums said basically the same thing you did. I dont have any latency options for this adaptor. Its not a big deal, I was only trying to improve the speed so when I want to use the BAP I can do quick downloads. I might have to install different drivers but I dont want to do that unless I have to. For now it gets the job done.
Here is the screenshot of my options under the advanced tab:
Sorry, not sure what else to check. You might see which drivers you are using, that way can see what chipset that is used. Note: on a different adapter, I had problems with it until I plugged it into a powered USB hub, which on most computers you should not have to as the USB adapters on most computers are powered, although you might want to verify it… But that is a long shot.
Good Luck
Kurt
Thanks for the help Kurt. Yeah, I can only select the usb serial port when its plugged in or it just disappears from the device list. I will investigate the drivers some other day.
