Not the best, but you can use a Dremel tool. They even have a drill press adapter for it.

I have a rotary drill. I use that to drill 1.5mm hole before. Not sure anything less than that will work. Just got 4pcs x 1.0mm drill today. Bought extra in case it breaks. Now I’m worried if my drill can even hold that size. 0.8mm is even smaller, I would definitely need a dremel set for that, but it’s expensive; maybe need to figure another way of drilling that hole.
I’m going to try it this weekend, and see how it goes.
I don’t owned a micrometer, the best I had is vernier caliper (0.05mm), and I get something around +/-0.05mm. 1 oz copper foil is 35um. So was mine 1 or 2oz? I couldn’t tell.
It takes like 30 mins to completely remove the copper, water ambient temp here is about 23~25 degC.
Nice job on the etching! What software did you use to draw the traces?
I’m putting this project on hold until August. Looks like I had to skip the contest already.
How were able to print out the traces? I did not see any export options except for the silk. Did you do a screen capture and then print the photo of the screen capture?
LOL @ SN96! all you have to do is press print!

No way! It can’t be that simple! It must be more complicated than that!!
LOL I dont have a copy at my work computer and its been a long time since I used it. Anyway, just plain 'ole print huh?
Yup. Just print the circuit with laser printer onto photo-paper. Then press and iron the circuit onto the PCB. Another method is to use light-sensitive PCB.
Try youtube under DIY PCB. There are plenty of guide there.
Hi tnay,
I have an off-topic question. I have 3 Microchip PIC18F chips and I am new to PIC’s and would like to start programming them. do I have any other options besides buying a programmer? I build a TTL to RS232 converter for my propeller chip using some small signal transistors. would I be able to do something like this for the PIC?
Brandon C.
Hi. I’m not sure about that though. Haven’t heard of anything like that. But I do saw some DIY programmer over the web. But after much consideration, I get the programmer instead. Not worth the trouble.
And guess what, I bought it end of last year, they offer 60% discount for ICD2 LE (limited edition), for about USD$40. You can try pickit2 or pickit3 (with development board). Microchip has discount and offer from time to time. I think the price is very reasonable, plus they ship via DHL, cost me only USD$18 to deliver it to Asia.

“Quadrunix” 8)
This is my third post in this forum. Still trying to get use with the new layout. I have been busy and gain zero progress for the pass 2 months, lol. I manage to get the quad standing with just 5v from HS-645MG using this circuit. That’s all about it for this weekend.
Those boards look Fantastic!!! Great job 8)
That’s a very nice Quad!
Keep up the good work!
