Hi.
I bought the SSc32u controller (before I used the ssc32)… I’m not able to use the Tx/Rx signals on the board via RS232 pc interface (com) … I’m using an RS232 ttl converter … but nothing happened …
could you please help me …?
Is there a technical support …
Otherwise I will not be able to use my AL5D robot arm …
thanks in advance
Regards
M.
Hi @Genetika,
Welcome to the RobotShop community!
I’ve seen many customers use TTL UART <> RS232 converters that were of low quality before. That being said, since you have an SSC-32U, why not use the USB port, which will show up as a COM port anyway (VCP or Virtual COM Port). It effectively shows up as the same as a regular PC COM port except without all the trouble of external converters (especially since many low cost ones don’t perform well).
Do you have a picture or a name/model and URL for the converter you are using?
Finally, which software are you using to test connection with your SSC-32U? If you are not already, I recommend installing Lynxterm (from here) for testing your board.
Let me know if you have more questions!
Sincerely,
P.-S.#1: You can find the details for the TTL UART serial interface in the SSC-32U manual, page 21.
P.-S.#2: If you have both the RS232 converter connected to the TX/RX/GND pin and the USB cable at the same time you most likely will not be able to use either properly due to conflicting signals. You can only use one or the other at a time, therefore only ever have one serial interface physically connected at any time.
Hi,
One of our staff has replied to your Facebook message by the following:
The first think i can notice on your picture is the lack of GND between the two boards.
This is required for a proper serial communication. Then you need to be on the right Baudrate.
