I would like to create a simple robotic actuator that uses a drum stick to strike a drum and it is triggered by an RF instantaneous switch. I would also like to learn arduino programming so I could program different rhythms.
From the research I have done so far, it looks like I would need some type of actuator but I have not seen a kit or components for RF transmission.
Can anyone recommend a kit that would include these components or individual parts that I could purchase?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!
Dan
It’s not at all clear to me what you are trying to do. I understand you want to strike a drum with a drumstick. But beyond that I don’t understand. The main problem I’m having is what the purpose of an RF link is?
Do you want a button that you push that causes the stick to hit the drum?
Do you want an Arduino to control the stick?
In either case, why do you need an RF link?
There is a similar project that was recently posted here:
An RC/ hobby servo which is very common and inexpensive (and used on demej00’s drum above) is probably the best way to control the drumstick. An Arduino can control it directly with very simple code. A radio control receiver usually outputs signals that directly control the servo based on where the controls on the transmitter are moved to.
Please give us as much detail on what you are trying to do and why as you can. It will help us help you.
oldguy - Apologies for not being more specific and thanks for the YouTube link - that’s great!
I am obviously new to this but I would like to start by creating something similar to what was on the YouTube video. In order to do this, is there a combination of arduino and servos you could recommend or perhaps a kit that contains all of these components?
This link goes to a forum post here on this website. I suspect the author just used parts he had on hand. I am unaware of any kits that would have all you need, but they may exist. Some Robotshop staff could probably better answer that question.
But, the creator of that drumbot is active here. I would either ask him in a comment on that post or send him a message directly to find out what he used and recommends.
