well with that being said i think you have done a great job. yeah funding these projects can become tough at times but saying that iv never had a deadline to complete projects so iv not had that problem with time on my hand.
One on going issue we have is running the robot on battery power. We ended up buying some high capacity AA rechargeable batteries and running a 5 cell battery pack. It powers our Arduino board and all eight of the servos at about 5 volts but usually only works about 1-2 minutes and then there isn’t sufficient power to run the servos. Lately we have just been running off an AC/DC converter with a long tether for power but id like to get it up and running on battery power…
Any recommendations for a better battery pack?

I would say the larger ones, like: lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx? … egoryID=48 but with your servos I think the lighter weight be be better.
Also are you using one of those plastic AA battery holders? If so then you are currently being limited by the contacts in the holder and probably really small wires.
