Project Phoenix, a hexapod robot

Hi Alan and Dale!

Thanks for your comments!
Yes this is more like a demonstration of the accuracy of her movements. The IK calcualtions has a resolution of 1 mm while writting. You might see that the letters are a bit uneven. That’s caused by the unaccuracy of the MG geartrain in the servo and also the temporary position of the pen. Ideally should the tip of the pen be placed under the tars centered.

This is probably not the most useful ability for a hexapod. Maybe she can write a message in the sand outside  Or tag an object ?

Anyway, it was a bit funny seeing her write though…

I just read an ad with the phoenix in robot magazine, but I can’t seem to find it available on the lynxmotion website.

Is this going to be available soon?

I know lynxmotion makes a bunch of great hexapods, but this one is just dead sexy.

Where can I get the aluminum parts?

I’m a bit behind in my responsibilities. If you want the parts without anodizing then we can help you. But if you want them anodized it’s going to be a little longer.

I would realy like to get my hands on that magazine, but sadly they don’t sell it in Norway  . Was it just a little ad? (Ehm… maybe someone could scan a copy of the ad and PM it to me… please  )

It wasnt really an ad. It was part of upcoming products and there wasnt much said. You can get robot magazine the online version.

Paul

Ok, thanks for information!

think of the possibilities :imp: :smiling_imp:

Jim, What is a little while, is it a spring thing?

I’m ok waiting a little, I’ll probably buy it as a kit, but I think I would like it non-anodized… will it be offered that way?

I need to get the parts to the anodizer. I don’t know how long it will take to get them back. I will not have any unanodized parts as kits though. Sorry… Zenta, I’m sorry for the hijack. I totally didn’t realize where the questions were coming from. :stuck_out_tongue:

LOL That’s okay! All in all it’s about Phoenix anyway

Hi,

To day wasn’t my luck day… I had some spare time and I wanted to make some new sequences for my Phoenix while she was playing with the box. So far so good, but suddenly my computer broke down and I had to reinstal OS and everything. After several ours we was up and running again. But after a few minutes Phoenix began to struggle and she could barely stand on her feets (read legs…). I was wondering; are you sick? are you drunk or something?

It was a bit funny to see her struggle with low on battery… LOL

zenta (or should I call you Kare?), congrats on winning the contest on Trossen! You truly deserve it with the amazing things that you did in the Phoenix project!

Thank you!
A special thanks to Tyberius who gave me a hint about this contest!

I’ve been busy lately with some house repainting of my childrens bedrom. But I’ll soon post a new video of Phoenix while she’s playing more with the box

Hi!

I’ve been working with a sequence project lately demonstrating Phoenix playing with the box again. It took me 3 late evenings to tweak and adjust the moves to make it right. But it was a bit fun though…

So here comes a new video; Phoenix and the box part II.

Sorry about the wire nest over SSC32…

Wow. Your sequences are incredible.

Hahaha, it’s very funny

oh, I thought that it was her hair!

Does Phoenix use any sensor?

Hi!
No, there are no sensors. It’s all precalculated sequences made with PEP and the sequences are runned with Lynxmotion Visual Sequencer.

Hei Kåre.
Hvor i Norge bor du?

Are you planning on controlling it by a joystick or something?
I think that controlling it with a PS3- SIXAXIS controller would be awsome, but since you control it by the sequencer and the excel code-maker that might be a problem.
great toy anyways and you have made me want to make one myself, maybe a phoenix-clone with the sexy legs of the Oxyopus or perhaps just a Oxyopus-clone

Hi!
I live in Stavanger, the oilcity you know

Yes I’m planning to control it with a PS2 wireless controller, I recently bought the Lynxmotion PS2 controller. At first I’m planning to use it together with the AtomPro and the SSC32 ver2 and using its GP sequencer together with Laurents PowerPod.

Good luck with your own project.

(PS send me a PM if you want to talk/write in Norwegian  )

Ok I leave for a year and come back to this… WOW.

Nice work and lots of intresting stuff you have provided everyone here.

one of the pieces you have on you project that looks like I might want to look into is the “BlueSMIRF bluetooth interface”

Just wanted to say nice work.
