Piezo sensor ground

guys, 

i am making an electronic drum pad using piezos and midi interface..so i found this website who sells drum kit pcb's... 

so, on the drum kit pcb they connected everything i expected it needed except they donot ground the piezo

so i was wondering how is it working without grounding 

Note- piezo here are being used as sensors

The pads that the black

The pads that the black wire of the piezo is connected to joins the ground plane on the back of the PCB =)
