Solved?
I just had a similar problem.
I could communicate with a picaxe 08m when installed on the rkp08c pcb but couldn’t on a breadboard.
I moved the picaxe to the other end of the breadboard and success!
Hope this helps someone else and save them a couple of hours pulling out their hair.
