My first bot:Terminator jr

I have a pressure sensor in the works. I don’t yet have a switch solution. This is where you try to improvise, adapt, overcome. I have to think of things in the thousands. If I only had to make 6 foot switch sensors, and I could use glue or hand made custom parts, well that’s relatively easy. But when you have to make thousands, and it has to be easy, no custom hand made parts. That’s much harder. :frowning:

Jim - I have a prototyped a digital contact sensor using conductive rubber. The mechanical details are very similar your FSR based prototype - except I have been using plastic tool-dip for feet. (I don’t have a source for those rubber end-caps in reasonable quantities!)

How soon do you expect to have your kits available? I was planning to sandwich the two sensors to get both a high-speed contact indication and a high-resolution force indication.

could I have the robot try to move it down to makimum travel to see if there is ground a little bit lower to help traverse even terrain? that would be neat I fI could leave it in my garden and watch it just roam around, traversing terrain that treaded vehicles can’t handle…

I hope to have them available on a couple weeks. The stacking idea may work, but I am not sure. The FSR solution we are using may have issues if additional padding creates to much sponginess (it’s spelled right). It could make the sensor less accurate, or less sensitive.

UPDATE TIME!!! Ok guys. I have great news! since I am only 14 I need my parents permission to even SPEND a large amount of money on anythin. I finaally got permission to buy the bot! in a couple of weeks I will have the parts purchased. YAY now before you get on my case about how my parents have to do all the work and I am just gimme gimme gimee, let me tell you that my parents do not pay for ANY of it, they just give the go ahead for me to spen my money. YAY

How do I upload a jpg image from my desktop onto a post? thank you

hydro u upload it onto a site like putfile.com/

this is one of the sites many of us use to upload our images, there is another site that you dont have to register for, but i dont remember it

but anyway, once you register go into “My Files” and browse your computer for the images you want to upload, check the image circle and upload your photo

then after you recieve the URL near the middle of the page, copy it, and paste your URL inbetween the URL tags like this: [(YOUR PICTURE URL)]((YOUR PICTURE URL)) and that is it

btw, congrats about gettin the “go” for ur bot  , my parents are the same way  (i turned 15 in may), but again have a happy waiting period  :open_mouth:

www.imageshack.us is the site that does not require registration but can be confusing to use. If a cookie is deleted or disabled, you will not be able to get to your images.

www.Putfile.com is a good one to use

Hydro, glad to hear the good news! My parents were the exactly same way when I was a kid. I believe if it’s your money, you should decide what to do with it for some early lessons in life. At least your parents are letting you do this, my parents denied most of my request to buy things which turned me in to a spend alcoholic later on in life. :open_mouth:

Now get some pics up when you can!

Can you guys think of a good way to attach the flat spot in the back of the leg to the tube section of the foot?? I am stumped. I wll use this with jim,s foot sensor. BTW any1 know when those will be available for purchase??
putfile.com/pic.php?pic=7/18417263930.jpg&s=f10
The flat part will attach to the tube section of the foot and the top part will curve back up and over the servo.

can some one help with the Q’s above?? need mucho grande helpo!!! LOL

Should I just use JB weld? that seems to be the best choice so far.

ok, think you could use a dremmel to make a small “incision” if you will, in the tube, then drill 2 holes in the tube and the put a nut and bolt through the holes through that flat part, or maybe just use 2 on each leg, drill 2 holes in the tube before and then put the screw though one leg, through the tube then through the other put the a nut, sercuring it all together

or you could just weld it like u said

yay a response what do u think of my design? u have a very promising foot for ur hexor whatever ur building chunga.

i like the design, but do you think you could put up a picture of how it would look on the bot so we could get a better idea?
