I've salvaged a few motors over the years with hopes of using them someday. Wondering if someone can help me with a motor I have and tell me if I can control it with Arduino.

Pittman motors
I have used the Pittman gearhead motors in multiple projects. Very nice quadrature encoders. The two terminals labeled ‘1’ and ‘2’ are for motor power. The 4 pin header on the end is for the quadrature encoder. Lookup the specific model for gear ratio and encoder specs. I suspect it is at least 128CPR which means an Arduino CPU with software decoding is going to be very busy. I use CPU’s (dsPIC33xxx) with hardware decoder support.
Note that the 30V motor will probably work down to about 6V with reduced speed and power.
Motor Control
Yes you can control the motors with the Arduino. I was actually hoping to post an article about that on earl-tech.com
