Motor and motor controller questions

Hey all, my names matt and im building an rc robot and was wondering if anyone has ever used this motor controler?

banebots.com/pc/ELECTRONICS/BB-0309

or this one…

i plan to use it with this motor…

lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx? … egoryID=11

will this work?

inout welcome

The banebots controller should work with this motor. The other one is a brushless motor controller.

What about these motors with that banes bot controller??

and i have no idea of where to find battery pack…

Yes they are fine too.

We have some batteries…
lynxmotion.com/Category.aspx?CategoryID=48

so say i want to use a motor that is 7.2 vdc, do i want to match to votage or match the vdc of the battery?

like this one( lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx? … egoryID=48 ) says its 7.2 volts, but its rated at 8.68 vdc, so could i used that one?

my plan is to have 4 of these motors ( lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx? … egoryID=11 ) running off of one battery

Um… Well, you use the rated voltage (7.2vdc) of the battery for your selection. We just added the right off the charger info because I got tired of answering the question…

okay i was just hoping it would work. do you think it will support 4 of those motors?

Hope is not normally a part of engineering.

First you define what you want to do.

Then you read the specs.

The motor requires 200mA no load, around 1.5 amps at maximum efficiency, and 3.8amps stall. The motor should never stall. So the 4 motors should draw around 6 amps when they are doing work.

The motor controller says 3.5 amps cont. 9 amps max.

Not going to make it.

they have to be individually controled, so there will be separate motor controllers for each motor, but will the battery support that draw of 6 amps?

Doh! oh the battery… lol

Still more math…

The battery capacity tells the whole story… 2800mAh

That battery can provide 2.8 amps for 1 hour. 1.4 amps for 2 hours. 5.6 amps for 30 minutes.

Using the current draw of 6 amps. The battery will last 27.9 minutes. 8)

this assumes the robot will draw 6A continuously… as in never stops accelerating or pushing its way through shag carpet.
Point being you should get more than half an hour operating with this pack with a maximum combined motor drain of 6A.

ok well its a four motor setup, they will be independently controled and used intermitantly. im not so much concerned with how long it will last, just so the motor will in fact operate with that battery.

so i want to use this motor…
lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx? … egoryID=11

and this controller…
banebots.com/pc/ELECTRONICS/BB-0309

and this battery…
lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx? … egoryID=48

what do you think of that?

Will work! 8)

thanks guys your the best!

this is the receiver i plan to use.

servocity.com/html/supreme_fm_rx.html

that wont be any problem either will it?

assuming you have a radio that talks to it on the same frequency and all… probably.

thanks man, ill post pictures when im done with the build.
