Thanks guys!
I did plan to make a new workshop video but my workshop is extremely messy at the moment. Lately I’ve been playing with new RC cars with my boys, just bought a monster truck and a rock crawler in addition to my Rustler VXL (insanely fast ). Btw, the 1:8 rock crawler would be a cool platform for a robot too… So there are RC parts and robots every where and the tools and other things are just spread all over, I don’t even have space for my keyboard…
Another problem with a workshop video is that my table is to small for Morphex when its expanded… So I need to find a better location, maybe our dinner-table or something.
I’ll see what I can do one day.
dinner-table is fine for me …!
let’s see it moving
I am anxious to see the video! I’ve been following this project since you announced it…
You are a cool dad! 8)
WOW!! Torbjørn must be almost as amazing as his dad. RC cars at less than seven months! My 11 month old grandson is still having trouble with integral calculus.
Actually, the dynamics of high speed vehicles should be quite different than robot hexapods but could provide great lessons for advanced robotics.
BTW, could you enlighten us on the meaning of “Zenta”? I’m fascinated by name origins, but when I google Zenta, I get: nothing under Norse mythology; some German and Danish girls names (but you don’t qualify); and many references to you and your workshop under “Zenta Norway” but no meaning for name. So unless you named yourself for a 1697 battle in Serbia where the Austrians slaughtered the Ottomans, I’m stumped.
But it’s a great sounding name. I’ll bet several of us are curious.
And we’re really looking forward to videos of MorpHex in motion.
ready and waiting.
iv often thought this too. ??
god help you if you google innerbreed! who knows what you get. a few double headed dogs maybe! lol.
Zenta… I don’t think I’ve a very good explanation around that. I’ve used Zenta as a nickname since I was about 18 years, and thats 20 years ago… I remember I thought about having a nickname, and the name Zenta was actually my own idea, not inspired by anything. I didn’t have google or wiki at that point. I just liked the sound of it. But my friends thought it sounded like a washing soap…
I have 3 kids (all boys) and the RC car was for my eldest (7 year), he got a Traxxas Monster Jam (at this saturday). Just perfect for him. But my 5 year old son got very upset for not getting a real RC car too. So it all ended with me taking him to the local RC shop again and we bought a big 1:8 Crawler. To be honest I’ve always wanted to buy a crawler myself though… But we have a very good agreement that he can drive it as much he want and “it is his car”. So we are all very happy!
Sadly my eldest son got sick this evening and puked all over his bed for an hour ago… So I’ve no time for making a short video yet.
Just to inform you, MorpHex now consist of 19 servos and it look very much like an AH3-R. But I plan to add 6 more servos on the top deck for controlling the 6 upper sphere parts. No sphere parts are mounted yet. So far I’ve worked on the code to make the morphing inner body to work, and that’s what I intend to demonstrate. I hope to post something more than just letters in a few days.
You own the name Innerbreed. There are no references to this name that do not pertain to you. lol Well I didn’t look past the first page.
sorry to hear that Zenta, its never nice when your little ones get ill. lucky we haven’t had anything this whole year and everyone is well. “touch wood” but i hope its nothing to serious and he gets better soon so he can go out with his brothers. maybe you should get him to control the hex in the next instalment as a treat.
Image search pulls up some interesting things. just tried it and i must say, InnerBreed has nothing to do with animals and no animals were harmed in the creation of anything i build.
Thanks Jonny,
Its probably migraine, he was complaining about headache before he went to bed. Hopefully he is ok tomorrow.
Yeah, you do own Innerbreed.
Sorry your boy is ailing, Zenta. Hopefully the illness will be short, and he will feel fine again soon. Put us all on hold for awhile. You don’t owe anything to us, but family is everything!
Hi,
I didn’t make a workshop video. Just a 1 minute teaser…
Enjoy!
Can you combine the “morph” action with longer, “Phoenix” legs?
I haven’t worked on my 'hex for quite a while, I need to get back to it. Maybe shift to the ARC32 + SSC-32!

Wow!
Nice teaser!
I like the motion as it unwinds and rewinds
Kurt
Of course, you can use any kind of leg you want. In this case the leg dimensions fit very nicely inside a sphere section.
Thanks Kurt and Jim! Glad you liked it.
Yeah, I like that motion too. I believe this is the key to make the sphere formed hex to be able to walk with those large sphere parts attached.
Zenta, Your “teaser” is amazing! You certainly follow the showbiz adage of leaving them wanting more. I know it’s supposed to mount inside a sphere, but the way it expands is scary enough right now. Sort of a spider equivalent of a puffer fish, or maybe a hooded cobra, warning all other robots away.
I love it!
Thanks RoboTed!
I’m glad you liked it.
