Meet Origen!

Welcome back.

I hope she doesn’t read this forum!

Hello, had a little time to myself and I did a robot rebuild. Check out the photos.

Standing up postion.

That is nice - I particularly like the carbon fibre chest plate - is that some sort of vinyl cover? Can you post a pic of the backside as well?

I registered on these forum with the impending purchase of a J5. The saving was all going well … wife approved (and even slightly understood) even … but then I discovered the landscape project I was doing outside to “help” our impending first baby is costing a lot more than thought. But I’ll get there, eventually! Like you I appreciate when I finally do get a proper hobby-grade robot, it will be a very long term project.

The chest plate is made by Kondo for their KHR series robots. Here is a pic of the robot without the chest plate and the back of the robot, they are not the best quality, but they should give you some idea of what you needed to know. The torso is made from carbon fiber sheets using parts from Lynmotion’s Robot Torso as a stencil. Good luck on your project, they can be costly.

Very neat setup - I like it. How do you find the VEX camera - does it work well outputting to TV and controlling the robot at the same time (ie. in another room). I’ve seen RC cars which have a wireless camera and small LCD in the transmitter, which I’d consider looking hacking into my J5.

More pictures but zoom out a bit. Any video of it in motion? :open_mouth:

Thanks for the comments, the VEX camera is actually a pretty good 2.4 ghz camera, you get a nice clear color image up to 150 ft (about 45 meters).

There are no videos and two servo’s need to be replaced so motions and there no pics. I’m lazy when it comes to documenting projects, this guy came about because I am in a sleep study and I had to stay awake all night. It’s only a four day old build, so it is new and I might have to change things a bit. If you look at the photos of him sitting and standing, look down by his left foot. That piece with the ribbon cable is the gyo. I need to get that inside the body, and I can’t do that with this guy, so I probably will making some changes.

Love the new pics. I like it the most with the chest plate installed. Best looking biped build using all SES brackets. Well done.

All SES brackets? Yes, that is impressive!

Hey Guys,

Yes, this one hundred percent Lynxmotion and like I said the upper body is copied from the back of the Lynxmotion Biped Torso. There is huge difference with the chest plate, I’ve been trying to find the time to play around with vaccum forming to make my own, but it’s took such a long time to get to this point, anybody out there with some spare time they would like to get rid of?
