From looking at the product page, it only includes one motor controller which has 2 channels. In order to control all 4 motors independently, it requires either 2 of these motor controllers or one motor controller with 4 channels. Can anyone with experience or info on this kit please chime in.
Edit: Looked closer at the Arduino Controller and it has 2 H-Bridges to control the other 2 channels. How much voltage/current can these channels handle? I am looking to upgrade the Tamiya Gearbox motors to the RM3 brushed motors that operate at 6V.
Welcome to the RobotShop Forum. The DFRobotShop Rover 2.0 - Mecanum version includes both the onboard L298 motor controller, and the Ardumotor Motor Shield. Combined, these allow for independant control of four motors. The onboard L298 can handle about 1A per channel continuously (limited to about 6V because the motors cannot handle much more), while the Ardumoto shield can handle up to 2A (in theory up to 46V). If you purchase the complete Mecanum kit, you can simply purchase four 6V motors separately for <$8 total. Mecanum driven robots are quite awesome and this is currently the least expensive kit on the market.
