Lynxmotion SSC 32U vs SSC32 V2

Hi there.

I currently have a Lynxmotion SSC32 V3 (with old DB9) which I am planning to use in a project. But I am wondering if there is much difference between the new version and the old other than the USB change.

Many thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

The SSC-32U has a few distinct advantages over the SSC-32 (discontinued since the end of 2014/start of 2015):

]USB Port with FTDI chip
This feature allows you to simply connect a USB cable to the SSC-32U and your computer/laptop/SBC (Single Board Computer, such as the Raspberry Pi 3). The drivers create a VCP (Virtual COM Port) which can then be used to transmit data to and from the SSC-32U./
:m]
]Brownout protection circuit. The SSC-32U has better circuitry to prevent loss of power from high-motor current requirements. In the previous board, the SSC-32, a 9 V battery was sometimes required to prevent the board from resetting during high-current situation. With the new board, only the 6 V DC input source is required to power the entire circuit (motors & electronics)./:m]
]XBee socket. The SSC-32U also offers and XBee compatible socket, which allows you to connect plenty of new interfaces to the SSC-32U to control your servomotors with, such as: XBee, ZigBee, WiFi, Bluetooth, Bluetooth 4.0 BLE, LORA, etc/:m]

Here are a few other minor differences, but this list should cover the major ones that impact most projects.

Sincerely,
