This has become a nice 2DOF hexapod, but to be honest itâs hard to muster any excitement for it when the multi-color 3DOF Phoenix is coming out, and the existing all-aluminum H3 line is killer.
For me personally, I would always get 3DOF if I was building a larger hex, so I donât see a use for this bot. Maybe it is more appealing to folks on a tight budget who donât want to buy 18 servos.
I have considered building a small 2DOF on a budget for my son (like your Mini kit), but this big 2DOF doesnât have a niche in my world. Of course I may not be a typical customer.
Also, I donât really get whatâs going on with the âshockâ. Can we see a pic of one dismantled?
This bot is going to be much less expensive compared to any of the 3DOF bots. Not only can it be made with only 12 servos, but it can use 12 inexpensive servos. So thatâs the purpose of making it. The first hexapod I ever built was a 2DOF and I will always have a soft spot in my heart for them
The 2DOF leg moves the tip of the foot in an arc as it makes itâs stride motion. The shock allows the tip of the foot to make a straighter path. Iâm sorry, but I just donât have time to make a video of it today.
I like the design. Itâs a great addition to the exsisting line of bots.
People of all sorts have varing tastes when it comes to the different plantforms available. Some like Sumos, some like Quads, or Hex bots, and some like the Bipeds, and still others like Rovers for all different reasons.
