Hi!
This is the first time asking directly for help here as up to this point previous topics have always helped me solve the problems encountered! So first of all: Thank you very everybody for offering solutions here - you help a lot of people!
Context:
I purchased my litter robot III open air in July 2018 and it has failed A LOT. I mean, I love it when it works because it makes my life easier but I have come to find it a badly built machine, prone to failures and completely unreliable at times and out of the blue.
In the first year, while in warranty I had to replace the DFI sensors and the motherboard, which due to stock issues arrived late and I installed it in December 2019. It worked for about a day and a half before failing again. I rotated the foot one or two turns and that fixed it. I read this is only a valid solution for the II model and you should not do that on the III model, but you have to understand I was desperate after having the machine nonfunctional and unuseable for about half a year.
So: replaced DFI, replaced Motherboard.
Description:
The blue light started blinking slowly although the drawer was not full.
Then the globe stopped rotating in a weird place. Troubleshooting said to manually rotate it to the correct position which we did.
Blue light started flashing rapidly (I don’t remember if that happened before, after or during the incorrect rotation).
Shortly after blue-yellow-red lights started flashing sequentially.
After another while the yellow light came on solid and stayed that way.
All this happened in less than a day.
The robot is just completely unresponsive: no buttons work, if you unplug/plug nothing happens, the yellow light just comes on again and stays that way.
Troubleshooting steps already taken:
Since then we tried everything: hard reset, cleaning all sensors, cleaning an tightening the screw on the rotating teeth, reinstalling the cat sensor, empty litter robot, full litter robot, open the pins where the power jack is, cleaning everything,… to no avail.
Hardware concerned:
Litter Robot
Has anyone encountered this particular problem? I find it weird that A) i can not find any information about a solid yellow light anywhere and B) the robot is completely unresponsive to even a hard reset (which to be honest, has never worked great even before). My gut steers to replacing the cat sensor (maybe I damaged it) but then again, would a faulty cat sensor make the whole robot freeze completely? Taking into account the previous stages of failure which would indicate a loose black rotation gear (it is tight) or even a faulty power supply (original adapter, plugged directly into the wall)?
Thank you very very very much to take the time and read this and even more so if you can offer a solution or even a hint of a solution! I’ll take anything at this point!
Cheers,
