Introducing the Lynxmotion Phoenix Hexapod Kit!

The CH3-R looks like a beast next to the Phoenix. I was dead-set on getting a CH3-R, but my son thinks it’s too big.

The CH3-R would still be better for carrying any kind of payload, especially with the base rotate, which looks good on the round body.

But the Phoenix is cooler for just a straight up lightweight hex crawler. I’ll probably end up getting both. :smiling_imp:

My only comment about the Lynxmotion Phoenix design is that it could use more material on the tibia around the servo, especially at the top.

I know I probably don’t have to ask, but eventually this will be aluminum right?

Jim said this is just a prototype and aluminum parts are being made. The final kit will sell with aluminum parts

JIM YOUR THE MAN! Nice shiny aluminum will look awsome! This is the lamborguinni of hexapods, (I can’t spell dont hold that against me! :stuck_out_tongue: )

I know, I think I’d like the whole bot in anodized silver, but with other color choices who knows? 8)

I’m looking to get the following…

Black
Clear
Green
Red
Purple

I’m trying to get these in time for Christmas…

Oh, man! Decisions, decisions…

Red body w/orange and yellow flames or purple body with gold ghost flames like my PT Cruiser?!

(Female voice in the background) “Honey, have you seen the credit card?”
:smiling_imp:

I hope you can pull it off. Every time it ask my son what he wants Santa to bring him, he says a hexapod. Unfortunately, he wants a “medium size” one, and not the big round ones (which is what I wanted :frowning: ). The Phoenix would be absolutely perfect. 8)

Would the initial run be available sooner if there were fewer colors?

We are still negotiating the pricing for this run of parts. I don’t yet know if the multiple colors will be a problem. I can get them without anodizing, then send them to an anodizer, but it’s extra hassle. We are working on it.

I wish you wouldn’t create and make available such cool things, Jim. Now I want TWO hexapods, a CH3-R and a Phoenix! I would opt for blue as a color for Phoenix.

Um… Sorry

Like Henry Ford used to say, you can have any color you want as long as it’s black, or in this case, purple. lol jk I’ll see what I can do.

wow, anodized red would look really hot for that!

Maybe. I’ve seen a lot of anodized reds that look kinda pinkish… a deep, dark red would be awesome though.

IMHO, gold is the third-coolest robot color after black and silver. The Robonova has a nice color scheme.

But it’s all good… I could live with any of the options (except purple).

Purple would appeal to the ladies. I have not known any of them who did not really like purple.

8-Dale

How many of those build robots?

I wish more of them would!

A very large number of the ladies really like purple. Some of these ladies are wives, girlfriends, etc…

I know what you mean…Its kinda hard to find a gf interested in my hobbies, but lets not thread jack :unamused:

I have nothing against the color purple or pink. In fact, I like pink… My FireFox tabs are pink and my MSN text is pink…

cough Beth, gg Jim! cough

I tried making the tibia more like the C-Leg but it severly restricted the range of motion, so I stored it in the round file.

Update I found a new job shop with much better pricing. This is progressing.

Sweet … I hope this critter makes it under the tree. All good little boys deserve their very own hexapod.
