Icarus Experience I

I'm working hard on a arm with 2 axis without a gripper in the first version. that will interface with a pc or a cotroller pad with a lcd display 16x2.

Review-1. a gripper

  • Actuators / output devices: stepper motor for axis, DC Motor for gripper with spring-return
  • CPU: PIC 16F872
  • Programming language: Assembler, C

maybe reverse engineer it? Looks very cheap, but full fuctionality is an idk.

Find the frequency it uses and buy a USB dongle for that frequency and write a VB or C# program that allows you to control the 2 (3?) axis control. Just my 2 cents

Err nevermind its wired… which is easier…

I think is earlie to a usb

I think is earlie to a usb comm. I’m making a simple Operating System in C, nothing visual, and interface by the paralel port. When finished I’ll upload the video. Thanks for the help.

Nice!
Nice! I look forward to seeing the finished product. I dig the ground up construction including the C-based OS.

Drawer sliders would make it

Drawer sliders would make it steadier but it seems nice. What do you intend to use it for? Most robot hansd with such constructsion are like big tools for planishing/drilling.

Edit: And are those stepper motors with self built gearboxes?

I’d thought it but…
With a worm wheel I have a economy of energy, because the motors are used only when i want to move. My first idea is to train programming skills. And after finish it make another with wheels. The stepper motors were taken from an old printer.
