How to Make a Robot - Lesson 4: Understanding Microcontrollers

Dear Coleman Benson, I would like to make a flying robot ( size is small AND weights 50gms ) . Is it possible ?

@stanley Anything is possible, but we do not have any specific product suggestions.

Hy Coleman Benson
I would like to make an aerial robot for tree trimming purpose. Joining the trimmer within the aerial robot is that possible?

@Rakshi, Nothing is impossible but making a flying robot that can carry equipment for cutting / trimming purpose might not be easy to achieve and also dangerous.

i dont understand

@Hammad ali Do you have any specific questions?

hey i want to make a flying robot ,i got a program for it that program can give answer by asking questions to it so i want your help that how can i make micro controler and its functions that my robot has 2 cameras 1mic and a speaker to answerso can u help

@empedor Those are two very different projects; voice command and a drone. We suggest one at a time.

I want to make a walking robot …
This port helps very much…anybody who had made robots please give some ideas on where to get the parts needed how to assemble and so on.please mail me thank you

@Ramachandran If you need details on which parts to purchase as well as how to assemble them, you are best off purchasing a kit rather than creating a custom robot. We suggest robotshop.com

hai sir i am kavi…i want to some details in seeding purpose robot…but i am not use in microcontroller so please tell me which components i have use it…please tell me sir…

@kalaikavi We are not sure we understand your question - you would like help selecting components for what application?

Where can I get supplies for my robot

@Dante This is not intended to explain how to put together a particular kit - the articles are intentionally open ended. We obviously suggest www.robotshop.com for robot parts.

What microcontroller shall I use if I use either
1.8stepper motors
Or

2.8servo motors
Controlled by tether
For robotic arm
With 2-4sensors
Please reply
Thanks you are doing a great job

@M.Rajkumar Almost any microcontroller would work - note that you need a stepper motor controller between the microcontroller and the stepper motor.

Can i use single board computers instead of microcontrollers.

@Rahul Kulkarni Certainly, for example the Raspberry Pi is incredibly popular these days.

hello dear @coleman benson, i am looking forward to make my own 3d printing, does the arduino uno work for… but trough your lesson till now i chosen 3 servo motor https://www.robotshop.com/en/25kg-goteck-metal-gear-micro-servo.html of 12 V AND a linear actuator also 12 V. as start up i am only intersted to connect them tougher and let the axes work so is that enough till now?

@anthony roumieh What kind of 3D printer are you planning to make? RC servo motors will not be of any use in a conventional 3-axis 3D printer because of the limited range. You really should be considering stepper motors. An Arduino Uno might be able to run some basic code to position each motor. For additional questions, please create a new topic on the RobotShop Forum and provide details of the planned design.
