How to Make a Robot - Lesson 3: Making Sense of Actuators

THANK YOU THIS LESSON IT IS VERY SIMPLE & CUTE

can we use simple DC motors to make a robot???//

Wow that sounds fantastic!

Where can I find supplies like motors and gears?

@hhopp366 RobotShop.com offers a variety of motors and a selection of gears. If you cannot find something on our website, we invite you to bring it to our attention.

Great lesson, but I don’t know where to get these motors.

@Ibeh Confidence www.robotshop.com We ship worldwide!

Nice lesson, now I know…∩__∩

How can I use Hydraulic to push another robot car in a robo car fight (maximum weight :car+ hydraulic have to be 7 kg)

@joy you need a complete hydraulic system, including the pump, tubing, control system and actuators. If the cars are small, you might consider a DC linear actuator instead of hydraulics.

DC linear actuator Can push only 1.7"/s . But my car need to push minimum 4"/s.

@joy We can offer DC linear actuators which travel at up to 4.5" per second under load (9" per second no load). Contact us via the support center for more details.

Well !
It was a nice lesson for all of us ,
This lesson will really help me to move
A step ahead !
Thank you

How can this be done in Nigeria by a 13 year old boy

@pastorsure It really depends on if you want to make a custom robot from scratch, what parts you have available etc. It can be done by a 13 year old, but it’s best if he has someone with experience to help him. A kit which includes all necessary parts and clearly explains how to put a robot together is often best at this age.

I started from lesson one yesterday. Great lessons I must say. We are interested in teaching 10 to 13 years old maybe younger. Looking at one of your response, you advised that " A kit which includes all necessary parts and and clearly explains how to put robots together is often the best at this age" Which of the kit in Roboshop can meet this need? Does this Kit come with a guide book of some sort that can guide an Instructor who has never taught Robotics to be able to teach this young children? And lastly, there are a lot of technical terms that a new robotics enthusiast will not be able to understand like : encoders, Potentiometers,Toque,Servo motor, Selenoids and a host of others, This can be handled if you have any training online or onsite. Is there such a training?

@Ken An Arduino starter kit is best: https://www.robotshop.com/en/arduino-kits.html
You will notice certain kits include additional documentation, and many have online guides.
We do offer a variety of Arduino related books: https://www.robotshop.com/en/books.html

Hello,I’m asking how do you know if a motor is compatible with a wheel or are all wheels compatible with all motors?

i want to make 2 robots. 1 eco and 1 hybrid. eco robot doesnot have any actuators to drive itself. the driving force is provided by hybrid robot using wind force or magnetic force. need help for mechanism.
