A little home secret… i sometimes take photos in my bath!! gives a very nice white background. and using a simple Brightness/contrast i can get the background even whiter.
I’m using a rather “old” Olympus E-500 dSLR camera (now replaced with an E-30) for all pictures with a 50 mm macro lens and using two old manual flashes (OM T-32), a white umbrella with one of the flash, background using a white roller-curtain (is that the right word http://hexapodrobot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif ), a reflector on the other side and shooting the other flash up to the ceiling.
That’s a good setup but you look like you have some room…I’m stuck in a 10 by 10 room and with me and my collection of robots ( toys ) it doesn’t leave much room for building home built bots let alone setting up someplace to take pictures.
This by the way is not a complaint just a point of fact…my wife runs a tight ship around here…I’m a kid at heart but I’m also 56 years old on Saturday so I get a lot of static sometimes about having around 150 robot toys
I’ll have to see if I can find my old photo umbrellas. I have flash equipment as well, but I have no simple way to trip them with my old Nikon 880. Trouble is, it “flashes twice”, (first to get range or something), and then a second flash. So my gear gets triggered too soon.
I don’t have a roll-up background anymore, I’ll have to try to find one.
I’m not done with it yet I’m playing with the code for autonomous operation which it partly is now and I have yet to add my camera for vision system. What’s is sweet is that with the two X-Bee’s I can let the ABB run the robot from X-Bee 1 to X-Bee 2 on the SSC32 and can also send serial commands to the SSC from X-bee 3 on the PC to X-Bee 2, the X-Bee’s handle all the routing right out of the box.
