How do you generator power? alternator or generator

Hi im new on this forum, I am looking for some insight. how would you guys charge a battery on a remote control vehicle…i was wondering if its possible charge a 12volt battery with some mechanical energy.

Welcome to the RobotShop Forum. Why not use a charger? You can certainly convert mechanical energy into electrical energy (ever play with one of those hand-crank radios or flashlights, or seen a self-winding mechanical watch?). Converting mechanical energy is the principle behind many power generation systems. Can you elaborate as to what you are looking for (and perhaps why)? Note that not all batteries can be recharged.

You could have you robot use solar panels, wind generators or other power generation devices.
