ones brushed aluminum so it cant be scratched and the other is painted black. no real difference besides what people like.
ok thanks
nothing, irs onlt the color
Brushed is a wire brush-like finish to give it a fiber grain look. Black anodized is a chemical process that color coats the metal. The black anodized I believe are also brushed then anodized.
Like Nick has said in other post I could be lying a bit, because I’m not 100% sure of the finishing process used.
Eddie, If you need and help on how to post images in the form, just ask! I would be glad to help any way that I can. I am excited for you about the wi-port. This is the very thing I was thinking about using for my color camera vision system. I want to take a color camera, run image processing on the PC, and then send the data via the wi-port to the Mini-Bot Board for directional decision processing. That’s my long term goal anyway.
For now I am sticking to the basics, and have been contemplating getting a B.R.A.T. to gain experience with programming and experimentation.
yep. i just put it simply becuase I didnt want to sound too technical
WOW. sounds cool 8)
If you click my web button bellow, you can read more about this long term goal.
I will I will
::click:: …stupid wireless internet
Looks like the Lantronix website is back up so I grabbed the relavent .pdf files and will figure it out tomorrow. 8)
Oh by the way, I bought the somewhat unassembled kit so I still need to solder the through hole stuff on. No biggie. Did you try to order both a fully built and/or a kit version to see if one or the other was in stock?
Sre you asking if I tired to order one? I have not ordered the wi-port yet. I will later on down the road.
I ordered the one that is in pieces …
Hi Folks,
Just got my BRAT yesterday and as a first time user of the SES system I’ve got to say that I’m really impressed with the quality of the components.
I spent a few hours on it yesterday and have it almost completly assembled, just have to add power and route (hide) the servo leads. So far this little bot exceeds my expectations.
Regards, Harry
lucky duck harry, i ordered mine yesterday, and i cant wait for it to come, its scheduled to come on the 27th or thursday?!?!??!
i dont know wat i am going to do while im waiting
my mechanics have been built since sunday. I am still tinkering with the wiport thing. I have company visiting for a couple days though so combined with work it’s kind of cramping my progress. Nice to have company but Murphy had to arrange it right when I had a new toy. Also still sort of waiting for a reply to a question I posted to their support e-mail. Worst case I’ll drag a DVM home from work and figure it out myself, heh.
I was in the same boat, tracking suggested that BRAT had hit town Friday morning but despite being on the phone half the day I couldn’t track down which courier had contracted to deliver it to me ( I live in the country).
So I had to wait till Monday. Then Monday the phone rang and I just missed it, turns out it was the courier who couldn’t find my address. Luckily he tried again on his way back to the city.
I’m kind of a typical man, I don’t follow instructions that well. Usually I just build stuff until I run out of parts. You sure can’t do that with these kits, everything comes in duplicate or triplicate and there’s even stuff I can’t identify. Sure beats the average kit where if you break or lose a part you’re sunk.
I’ve got everything up and running and am just working with learning how to use the sequencer.
Can hardly wait to get this bot dancing!
Cheers, Harry
lol, thats kinda funny that the courier could’t find your house
Murphy does that all of the time … and he hit me last night …
I took Spidie over to my parents house to show him off.
Turn it on and center the servos. HE pops up and then drops back down.
I do it again and he stays standing … I then start to have him wave one foot and BOOM it drops again … Dead battery and I left the spare at home.
then the othe half calls wanting the use the laptop that I took off with…
I can see needing a 2nd laptop already.
so back on track … what type of issues are you having with it … I would like to know so I can avoid them
As near as I can tell the v3.0 kit is so new that the manual isn’t fully updated to reflect it yet, OR the links on the website is still pointing to an old version. Some of it I can figure out with a DVM, some I found answers too in the recent news area of the website, others like whether the corcom rj45 supplied with the kit has magnetics in it or do we still need to add them to make the ethernet connection are less obvious. I don’t know the person running the wibotics thing so I don’t know if it’s a living or a hobby bussiness. I’ll take the be patient route and believe all the stuff will be addressed when the manual is updated for the new board. At the same time, if you are not burning to have one right away there probably isn’t any harm in sitting back and letting others figure it out either.
AFAIK, the guy behind wibotics (David Garske, if memory serves) probably hasn’t updated the manuals to reflect the v3 because he hasn’t been asked to.
The V3 is sort of new…
About 3 months or so old, so…
But it’s probably best to email him and give him a poke.
