I have an unopened SSC-32 right here (that I’m planning to use in a talking/singing robotic head). It has seven shorting bars included, already installed. 2 for baud rate, 2 for enabling the 9-pin serial port, 2 for connecting the servo rails on both “halves” to the same power supply (otherwise, each set of 16 pins can be powered independently), and one for using the same battery for logic and servo power.
If you’re using the ABB, you won’t need the 9-pin serial port shorting bars, so you’ll have one or two extras.
The SSC-32 does come with a data cable for connecting the ABB to. With this wire, though, you can only send commands to the SSC. Another cable is needed to recieve any data from the SSC. For something like the BRAT, sending data is probably good enough.
The SSC-32 also comes with 9-volt battery clip and a little screwdriver for turning the little screws for the power inputs.
What a coincidence! The same applies for me (except mine is destined for Virginia instead of New York.) Shipping here using regular UPS is about 3 days, not counting weekends. We should both have our new BRATS by Wednesday or Thursday. I’m going with the kit with 645 servos, but I’ve got some sensors for it. A PING sonar, two infrared proximity sensors for the feet (it won’t walk off the edge of the table, if all goes well), and even a Parallax Accelerometer on it’s way!
Mine is the brushed one. What color is every one elses?
Because theres a nice man named Nick who sent his Mini-ABB to me today because he doesn’t have a Basic Atom or Stamp to use with it. He, however, can not find the shorting bar jumpers that came with the ABB. Yes. he is indeed a nice man
I guess I will have to order some extra from jameco when I order my resistors and caps from them. Anyone know what model of them works with the ABB? I searched for jumpers on Jameco and couldn’t find any.
Oh, and my BRAT will be Black Why? Because it looks Badd Asss. =) Sadly, Lynxmoiton doesn’t have any black aluminum channels
