hopfully this isn’t in another post normally i would search around but i have a deadline for this project.
i am building an airsoft tank destroyer model either a half track or a tank style and I am wondering what the best way to drive it would be the entire thing will be controlled with an arduino mega 2560 also if you could point me to some lower priced 5+ channel remotes to use.
thanks a lot,
tanked
Hello @tanked,
Can you provide us with further details regarding the design of the model?
As for the remote, you can use this one:
Awaiting your reply.
Sincerely,
@Ebram i am thinking of doing a us m10 wolverine tank destroyer image|720x300, 75%
or a german jagdtiger/jagdpanther (panther is larger and slightly different shape)
with the a chance of a russian KV-2 or british A30 challenger
Hello @tanked,
Thank you for your reply.
You can find some good tracks on our website such as:
Or a bundle like:
This is a good bundle as well:
Let us know if you need further assistance.
Sincerely,
@Ebram thanks but this is a dual cource project i must draft and 3d print some of the parts and then program it with an arduino mega2560 so those kits dont work on this project my needs are for drive motor recomendations
Hello @tanked,
Thank you for your reply.
Very well, you will need a brushed motor on each side and a mechanism to drive the track from this motor.
You can check this tank for some inspiration and design your own parts:

Sincerely,
Tamiya Twin-Motor Gear Box - RobotShop
12VDC 152RPM 20.8oz-in GHM-13 Spur Gear Head Motor - RobotShop
@Ebram which motor would be best and wich of the following speed controlers would you use
Sabertooth Dual 12A 6V-24V R/C Regenerative Motor Driver - RobotShop
DFRobot 20A Bidirectional Brushed ESC Speed Controller (XT60 Connector) - RobotShop
thanks
tanked
also i have decided on the russian KV-2 as has a larger turret
though the jagdtiger i shard pic of before could still work too
Hello @tanked,
If the tank will be light like the Rover V2, you can go for Tamiya Twin-Motor Gear Box - RobotShop
If it’s a heavier, you can go for the 12VDC 152RPM 20.8oz-in GHM-13 Spur Gear Head Motor - RobotShop
and Sabertooth Dual 12A 6V-24V R/C Regenerative Motor Driver - RobotShop for both cases.
Sincerely,
ok thanks will need to wait for the gun to arrive before i can figure out the weight but will then order corispondingly

Very well, let us know if you needed further assistance, and feel free to share the progress of the project with us.
Have a lovely evening, stay safe.

Hello @tanked,
Thank you for sharing your progress with us.
The design seems good and promising…Keep us posted with the progress.
Take care.
