I tried phoning this morning but it says that you must do it online. Don’t know why they list a phone number?
Anyway, I just finished submitting a ticket (to the Canadian site). I wasn’t sure which department to select in the drop down menu so I sent it to Exchanges/Returns. Hopefully I’ll hear something back today. I am getting anxious to try this CNC out.
We can understand, it’s sad having to go through this process for a product.
I personally have a CNC at home and been doing a lot of stuff. A little calm lately.
Your ticket is received, i’ve added a note about the forum and sparkfun troubleshoot. They will (our team) contact you very soon.
Thanks DiaLFonZo. I included the email that I received from SparkFun in the support ticket. What kind of stuff do you do with your CNC? I will be doing some PCBs and a few signs, both wood and Plexiglass.
Cheers.
I’ve been doing Quadcopter stuff mostly (DiaLFonZo-Copter) before being part of the RobotShop / Lynxmotion team.
The vast majority of my cuts were thin (1.5mm to 3mm) glass fiber plates (G10).
Hi DiaLFonZo, I received 3 different emails from RobotShop support and I am totally confused about what they are doing. One email says that they will send me a UPS return Label and if I use any other means of shipping, other than UPS, I’ll have to pay for it myself. Then I get another email saying that they have attached a Canada Post label. The third email indicates that they want me to return the entire CNC. It took me two days to assemble this thing and now they want me to disassemble it, repack it and ship the entire unit back and then have to unpack and reassemble another one later? All I need and want is a new circuit board. That’s the problem with not being able to talk to someone over the phone. Why can’t I just return the circuit board and get another one? If I have to return the entire unit just to get another circuit board I will just request a refund and forget the whole thing. I am really VERY unhappy about this whole situation!
This would not be a standard return process, I’ll check that out tomorrow morning.
It should be possible, and that’s what I asked, to replace the control board only.
Thanks DiaLFonZo. I appreciate that.
After some verification, it seems that our RMA department sent the “automatic” reply for US customers which usually send back by USP.
It doesn’t apply to you since your Canadian, just remove the Stepoko board and ship it with the return label from Canada Post that they send to you and we will replace the board.
Thanks DiaLFonZo. Much appreciated. I had sent them my Order # off of my invoice when I first contacted them but in their email they asked me to include my shipping address. Should I do that? I thought that they would have taken it from the Order #. I guess to be safe I should send it.
Thanks again DiaLFonZo. This has been a rather frustrating adventure but if I can finally get this CNC working and do a couple of projects I’ll forget about it soon enough.
Packaged, shipped and on its way!
Hi DiaLFonZo, Could you do me a favour? I mailed the circuit board last Thursday using the shipping label that they sent me. It had a tracking number on it but every time I try to track the package through Canada Post it just says “Return label created”. If you click on the question mark next to that is says "
A return label has been created for this item. If no additional updates are showing in Track, it means we have not yet received the item. As soon as we receive it, we’ll update the information shown here, including the expected delivery date." Could you check to see if RobotShop has received it? If they have not then I don’t know how to find out what has happened to it. Since RobotShop created the label I do not have a receipt to show that it was sent. I am getting a little worried about it since the tracking does not indicated that it has been received by the Post Office.
Thanks.
According the to the tracking information the item is in the “Item processed” at the moment.
It has been updated this morning, Canada Post is a little slow at times.
That’s odd because I checked it earlier this morning and there was nothing. I checked it again just now and I see that it says “Out for delivery”. I have sent a number of packages through Canada Post and you can normally track it right from the time that it is picked up at the postal station in Toronto right through to the destination. Anyway,… I feel better about it now. Thanks DiaLFonZo. Appreciate your help once again.
Cheers!
Hi DiaLFonZo,
I received an email yesterday saying that the Stepoko board has been shipped. The only thing is that the invoice and tracking number indicates that it was shipped via UPS rather than Canada Post. If you remember, when they were sending me the shipping label for the returned product they said that the shipping label would be for UPS and then sent one for Canada Post instead. I believe that you said that that UPS was for U.S. customers and for Canadian customers they use Canada Post. Is this board coming from the U.S. or from Montreal?
Thanks,
John,
The package will be delivered (shipped) by Canada Post but since the RMA was originally checked US it keep sending you UPS/US messages.
We apologize for this series of email which are not really relevant to you.
The Stepoko should be shipped today (from Mirabel) and the tracking will be available in your account just like a standard order.
All the best,
Thanks DiaLFonZo. I appreciate your help once again. Hopefully the new board will work and I will finally be able to try this thing out.
Cheers
Hi DiaLFonZo, I received the new Stepoko board today. I installed it and connected all of the wiring again. I started up Universal Gcode Sender, opened the com port and it connected fine. Then I tried moving the X, Y and Z axis using the buttons on Gcode Sender. Nothing happened!
I rechecked all of the wiring and it seems ok. I moved the X, Y and Z axis by hand to the home position and then pressed the reset 0 button in Gcode Sender.
Then I tried moving it again. This time the X and Y axis moved as it should but when pressing the z-axis button the motor would go but the router would not move up or down. I check it and found that the belt was not on the bottom pulley properly. I shut everything down, and set the z-axis belt on the pulley properly, and then turned everything back on again. I opened the com port and tried moving the X, Y and Z axis again and Nothing! Neither the X, Y or Z axis will move again. I tried resetting the zero again in the home position but still nothing happens.
It can’t be the Stepoko Board so what could it be? I am so frustrated I could almost take a sledge hammer to it but that would be a waste of $1,500.00.
I just don’t know where to go from here.
Have you actually closed the application when re-tried to make moves ?
If you just shot down the Stepoko board you will have to re-connect it.
I shut down the program. I turned everything off last night and tried again this morning and still no movement. What I don’t understand is that when I first installed the board it would not move. Then after homing the CNC and pressing the rest 0 button it worked. Then after fixing the belt on the Z-axis it would not move anymore. The program seems to be working because when I click an axis button it says “Run” and then “OK”. Also when doing that, the Steopko board axis led comes on and goes off again indicating that it is receiving the signal from the Stepoko board.
When it was not working after installing the new board and when I reset 0, I turned the E-Stop swith Off and then On again. I then heard a very soft sound coming from the X-axis stepper motor which I never heard before. That’s is when I found that it was actually working and all of the axis where functioning. Now that it is not working, I don’t hear that sound coming from the stepper motor any more.
I just don’t understand why it would not work, then it does work and then it doesn’t work again. I really don’t know anything about CNC machines or the Stepoko board so I don’t know what to try next? I’m at a stand still! I have a number of projects that I want to do with this thing, such as PCBs and LED lit plexiglass signs for our Amateur Radio Club and I can’t get this thing to do anything.
I realize that this is not your area on the forum but you are the only one that has ever responded to my problem and I appreciate that.
I actually own a couple of CNC’s personally but not this particular one and i’m not using the same softwares.
There are a couple of things that need to be done to gain control one of which is the e-stop switch which will cut every outputs.
There might be a series of actions you are not doing to gain control of your CNC at this point.
Make sure the Toggle switch (e-stop) is in the right position.
