DIY Remote control Casing

Not currently. I think I have a couple of series 2 (1 normal and 1 pro), but I probably have 8 series 1s… But if it turned out that some others wanted to use series 2’s, I made it easy to swap XBees as mine is mounted on the exterier of the remote…

Ok i have found a slide potentiometer that can be good:

how about a better keyboard, with tactile feedback of some sort?

Alan KM6VV

The SparkFun one i have post is Tactile. But is that you mean ?

Again my english doesn’t understand subtil things. lol

Many membrane keyboards are “tactile”; I should have said I like more “mechanical” keyboards.

I don’t how much you want to alter this design, but you might consider making it with two handholds, so that the box could be operated while holding it a little more comfortably.

Alan KM6VV

Can you describe more your idea

Take a look at that

search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=360-2296-ND

FYI -
It may also not be that important, but I personally like the idea that our current keypads have 16 keys. This was important in earlier versions of the code that I had to type in the HEX destination address (DL) and having 16 keys made that possible. But with current code you now also have the ability to use the XBee scan to find what possible destinations are out there and then choose those…

In most cases I also prefer having some tactile feedback as you can feel around and press the right key while looking at something else. But in this case it may not mater as much as I do simple things with the remote/robots…

Kurt

Yes it’s true.

I don’t find anything on digikey or mouser… :frowning:
The Sparkfun one don’t have 11 keys and don’t have any datasheet.

The Digikey on i posted last have 16 keys and is a membrane so you feel it.
For the casing design i only have to cut a slot to make the cable go inside. A bit worry about the connection… :frowning:

My guess is that i would like to find a good 16 keys just like you have use. Any info on where i can have them with specs ?

The cheapest one at digikey

Might be that… if you like… lol

If you look at the first page of the RC remote control thread, you will see a few different ones. Before this point I had one that I am pretty sure I ordered from Digikey… But the one that is in our remotes is this one…

Kurt

Just ordered…

Tanks Kurte

Ok i have an idea today.

What do you think about an Optical Encoder.
So when in a value, you can turn it to the value that you want.

Anyone have experience with them ?

Something like that:
