What is the difference between the Marvelmind 433 MHz navigation system and the Marvelmind 915 MHz navigation system? I don’t know which one to buy.
Hi,
For this kinda of usage (communication between beacons), the frequency does not matter as much, as long as it covers the full range of use (which it does in both cases).
That being said, typically 433 MHz offer better penetration of obstacles such as walls/buildings than 915 MHz does.
The main difference between the two other than this would be regulations in different regions on what frequencies can be used where and for what purpose.
For example, in Canada and the USA 433 and 915 MHz are both partially reserved for radio-location and also for amateur radio as primary use. Therefore, these should both be fine to use.
If you are in Europe, though, this is slightly different, as the only the 433 MHz is partially reserved for radio-location/amateur radio as a primary use. 915 MHz is still available for radio-location, but it seems to be as a secondary use. But, this is not valid for all EU countries, there are some exceptions.
Many countries also allocated 915 MHz to cellular providers, so you may not be able to use it well, depending on where you are.
Since you seem to be in the USA, both should be fine. You may still want to check with your telecommunications body and local regulations and to make sure all is good before you choose/buy one though!
Sincerely,
