DC Motor or Stepper Motor

Hello. I’m a total newbie to robotics and motor control, but have been doing some reading and have one quick question on a project I am building.

I need to raise a 50kg platform, 1.5m and then drop it again. I’m going to use 4 x ball screw linear shafts with a lead of 5mm.

For ease of installation I want to run each ball screw from a separate motor and if my calcs are right this would require approx 1Nm of torque across the 4 motors.

The question I have is simple and I apologize in advance :slight_smile: Can I use four identical DC motors and get the same speed if I run them from a single controller, or do I need to use stepper motors to make this work?
