Considering Buying a Makibox

I'm ready to take my builds beyond the scrap level. I have been noticing that I have good ideas, but have a hard time building my ideas from lack of materials, tools, funds, etc. Now that I am in college I think its time for me to start investing more time and money into my builds (without going overboard or breaking the bank). One thing that came to mind was a 3d printer: would this be a good investment for me at this time?

I heard that Kariloy had a Makibox: is this a good printer? Does anyone else have one? If so, would you reccomend it?

**Well I do have one.

I did**
Well I do have one.

I did not have a lot of problems, I just have a couple or so problems that persist in not going away. However, there are people other people that reported quite a few more problems than I have experienced.

If you want to print using ABS it’s not that bad, at least for me I started printing with it right away, but as with most printers you’ll have to spend some time calibrating it and fine tuning it.

You just need to be aware of it’s maximum build envelope, had for me personally the major issue with the hot end is had, when printing ABS is that is not too good for overhangs, other than that it has worked pretty well with ABS. There’s how however that “fun part” that the byproducts of ABS thermal decomposition are toxic… and my lungs are still complaining… so, you’d need proper ventilation… otherwise… ;|

As for printing PLA… the current default hot end… is a royal pain… with modifications I was able to print up to 2 hours continuously… but right now for the life of me I can’t seem to get a single print beyond the first layer without the hot jamming with PLA… (PLA is more ecofriendly and kills you slower and less painfully than ABS :expressionless: )

Also regarding delivery, there’s the issue that you might have to wait still a few months in the queue if you order a Makibox, they improved their production time, but right now I have no idea how long the queue might be, just that they shipped around 1700 kits so far.
