Claude Shannon, the father of information theory, the founder of digital circuit design, incredible engineer, mathematician, cryptographer, and just a general mover and shaker, died Feb. 24th, 2001 at 84 years old. He also created a mechanical juggling machine - my favorite accomplishment of his, among other wonderful inventions and general curiosities.
He was a pretty smart dude.
